Specialist Classes

Miss Atherton - Physical Education ⚽️ 🥅

Grades F-2 have finished their Soccer skills units for this term, we've learned to kick using the correct part of our foot for each type of pass (quiz your child and see if they remember: inside of foot for short passes, toes/top of foot for long passes!). We've begun to learn to dribble using both feet, and stop the ball with control when recieving it. Well done!

Grades 3-4 have continued their big Soccer unit as they build their kicking, dribbling, receiving, and attacking skills. Now that we've established some basic skills, we will be moving into small modified games of Soccer as of next week!

Grades 5-6 are half way through their SEPEP unit, where they learn to follow season of Soccer, from pre-season skill training to a tournament. We have been developing our confidence in using our basic soccer skills, and will also be moving into modified games of Soccer, however following a fixture with our teams, as of next week.

Mrs. Anstis - Art 🎨

The Art Room has been a hive of activity and colour as we have been making front covers for Art Journals. Students have enjoyed taking on responsibilities in the Art Room by taking turns being the Supply Manager, Journal Distributor, Direction Expert and Quality Controller.

Activities to consolidate colour theory have included colour matching exercises, creating individual colour wheels and shape artwork using cool and warm colours.

Students are enjoying contributing to our collaborative artwor, be sure to look out for a new window display before the end of term!

Selected Grade 5/6 students participated in an enrichment science workshop, developed by EcoLinc for the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series, about cloning wooly mammoths. students had a virtual tour of a mammoth dig site in Dakota, followed by a Q&A session with an archaeologist and palaeontologist in which they discussed ancient animals and environments, as well as efforts to bring back wooly mammoths from extinction. Students investigated 3D printed teeth, learnt about the evolutionary links between mammoths and modern elephant species and discussed the ethics of bringing back extinct animals. We had the best time and learnt heaps!
