Principal's Report

Kaylene Kubeil

The Excitement is Real!

What an exciting time it has been at Whittlesea Primary School. Auditions for our very first school musical, Seussical Jr., have now taken place, and we were absolutely blown away by the enthusiasm, courage, and talent our students showed. A huge congratulations to everyone who auditioned. Stepping up to perform in front of others takes confidence and bravery, and we are incredibly proud of each and every student who gave it a go. The energy and excitement in the audition room have set the stage for what is sure to be a fantastic production. We would also like to acknowledge the incredible hard work and dedication of Ms Carroll and Ms Murphy, who have led the auditions and preparation with enthusiasm and care, and have been supported by Mr Wilson. Their commitment will be instrumental in bringing this production to life and creating a positive, encouraging experience for our students.

Our cast is now finalised (listen to our podcast), and rehearsals will begin soon.  Seussical Jr. promises to be a colourful, lively, and heartwarming show, bringing to life the wonderful world of Dr Seuss. We can’t wait to see our students grow in confidence, teamwork, and creativity as they bring this story to the stage.

We are currently participating in the annual Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS), which gives students an opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives on school life. The survey, conducted across Victorian government schools, helps us understand student views on learning, wellbeing, relationships, and sense of belonging. These insights support our ongoing planning and school improvement. Students in Years 4-6 are completing the survey, with all responses being confidential, so students are encouraged to answer honestly. We value student voice and encourage all students to take this opportunity to share their perspectives. We will use this data to continue improving.

Front Security Upgrade - Works Starting Soon

On the 18th -19th June, we will start our upgrades at the front of the school as we commence work on the Electronic gate, Intercom, and CCTV installation. This will impact the foot traffic in and out of our front entrance. We will do our best to make it as ‘less inconvenient’ as possible.  Once all these arrangements are finalised with the contractors, we will communicate all the required directions and safety information via Compass.

Staffing Update

We are continuing to expand our Education Support Team, as we welcome Ms Madison Brown to Whittlesea Primary School. Madison comes to us with experience in both primary and secondary school settings, after recently working in northern Victoria. We look forward to Madison commencing and working with our students.

We look forward to seeing everyone return on Wednesday, 10th June, as we have our whole-school staff professional practice day on Tuesday, 9th June.

I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend, and if you are travelling, please stay safe on our roads.
