Reconciliation Week @ WPS

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. Reconciliation Week took place from the 27th May to the 3rd June. During this important week, our school recognised and celebrated the significance of building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community.

Students participated in a range of meaningful classroom learning experiences. Through collaborative projects, shared reading, and story writing during our Literacy and Inquiry units, they explored Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives in engaging and thoughtful ways.

A highlight of the week was welcoming the incredibly talented Dion Drummond for an engaging incursion. Through storytelling, singing, dancing and shared learning experiences, students deepened their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. We also loved listening to Uncle Brian play the idgeridoo, which was a memorable and enriching experience for everyone.
