Welcome Back for 2025!
Borrowing
We are very excited by the enthusiasm students are showing towards reading, both in reading classes and during breaks. All new students now have library accounts and can borrow.
Physical collection: Students can borrow up to five (5) books at a time, for a 4-week duration. Automated overdue reminder emails are sent to students prompting them to return or renew. We do not charge overdue fees, but long overdue books (months) will incur a replacement fee. Parents/carers will be contacted via Compass prior to this occurring.
eBook collection: ePlatform has a wide variety of popular ebooks and audiobooks that can be read from a laptop, tablet or phone. Access is from either the star menu on Compass or via FHS Library. Students’ logon with their Compass details and can borrow two (2) books at a time for 2-week duration, after which the book can be renewed or will return automatically.
Please see the 2025 Student Library Guide for more information.
FHS Library (our Library homepage and catalogue)
FHS Library gives students access to all our library resources, including catalogue search of our physical books, ePlatform (our eBook library), Clickview and TV4Education (our video libraries), our English pages (which have resources for all the novels/films studied in each year level), and databases including the World Book Online encyclopedia.
To access: Compass > Star > FHS Library (single sign-on with student email and password)
Bookwise Donation Drive
Our heartfelt thanks to the parents/carers, students and staff who donated books towards the new Bookwise Book Club program operating in Year 7 and 8 English. We are busy processing the books so we can get the program in action over the next couple of weeks. Donated books will have the donors name on a certificate inside the front cover. If you would like to donate a book to the collection please contact Michelle Snooks (msnooks@fhs.vic.edu.au).
Many thanks to the following donors: Hayley Norrish, Sophie Pelzer, Emily Johnson, Grant and Deborah Bretherton, Rebecca Ginsberg, Ethan Miller, Dash Darmon, Archer Gilhome, Corey Swainston, Amelia Swainston, Rosi Swainston, Mia Dunkley, and the other anonymous donors.
Academic Catch-up Club
Academic Catch-up Club (ACC) is open to all students in Year 7-10 seeking academic support. It is aimed at helping students to achieve their full potential and is designed to aid students who need further assistance with their Common Assessment Tasks (CATs) or other essential coursework. Students may voluntarily choose to attend ACC or may be ‘assigned’ to attend through their classroom teacher.
Starting Tuesday 11 February.
