SENIOR School Update

Welcome to the 2025 School Year
I hope everyone has had a wonderful and refreshing holiday break. As we step into 2025, the Senior School Team is delighted to welcome back our Year 11 and 12 VCE and VCE Vocational Major students, along with their families and our dedicated staff. A special welcome to our Year 11 students and families joining us from the 7-10 Campus, as well as any new members of our school community.
At Frankston High School, we take great pride in fostering a culture of excellence, , community, and aspiration - key pillars that shape the experiences and achievements of our students. As Campus Principal for Years 11 and 12, I feel privileged to lead such a motivated and engaged group of young people as they work towards their diverse goals and future pathways. In my leadership role, I also oversee Wellbeing, Inclusion and Careers, working with three outstanding teams (Wellbeing, Inclusion and Careers). I too have the pleasure of teaching a Year 12 Psychology class while mentoring a group of Year 12 students in my Optima class.
The Class of 2025 and our new Year 11 cohort have made an outstanding start to the school year. Our Year 12 students embraced their last first day of secondary school with enthusiasm, participating in a range of activities designed to strengthen resilience and connection—two key themes for their final year. A highlight of the day was a panel of Frankston High School Alumni, who shared valuable insights and words of wisdom to inspire the Class of 2025 as they embark on their final year. Students also enjoyed a BBQ shared with the Year 11 cohort and a Year 12 Colour Run at Delacombe Park, bringing energy, fun, and a strong sense of camaraderie.
We have also been incredibly impressed by the Year 11 cohort, who have approached their transition to the Senior Campus with great maturity and focus. They have already demonstrated a strong commitment to their studies as they begin their VCE and VCE VM programs.
A key focus for this year at Frankston High School is our Optima Pastoral Care Program, which embodies our school motto, Best Always - Optima Semper. Through Optima, every Year 11 and 12 student will meet weekly with a teacher mentor who will support their academic progress, wellbeing, and personal growth. These sessions help students explore what it means to be their best—both individually and as part of the school and broader community—while developing the skills and knowledge to strive for success. Our teachers play an essential role as advocates and mentors, believing in each student’s potential, supporting their wellbeing, and celebrating their achievements. I look forward to students engaging in their Optima classes and collaborating with their peers and mentor staff to achieve Optima Semper, Best Always.
Thank you to our dedicated Senior School Team, VCE and VCE VM teachers, and Education Support staff for their incredible efforts in ensuring our students have had such a strong and positive start to the year.
We look forward to working in partnership with you throughout 2025 to support and challenge our students to reach their full potential.
