Leadership

Last week we had a very busy time moving into our new buildings and learning spaces. It was a big effort and involved a coordinated approach to minimise disruptions to learning programs. A big thanks to staff for ensuring this was a relatively smooth undertaking. There are still a few outstanding items to complete this building, including wayfinding and classroom signage, and upholstery to fixed seating in the main building and community hub. The new buildings have been given Woiwurrung names:
- Wurun (manna gum/ white river gum) – main building, including office administration and new classrooms.
- Wayut (stringybark tree) – community hub small gym
The old main building with red bricks has been renamed Biyal (red river gum). The 5/6 building remains the Babajen. Building identification signage will also be installed in the coming weeks.
2027 Class structure
We are about to begin the complex process of forming classes for 2027 with the following class structure developed around the number of students at each year level:
Mainstream – 8 classes
2 x Foundation/Year 1 classes
1 x Year 2 class
2 x Year 3/4 classes
3 x Year 5/6 classes
Steiner – 3 classes
1 x Year 1 class
1 x Year 2/3 class
1 x Year 4/5 class
This is based on what we currently know about student enrolments for 2027. If you are planning on leaving TPS, it is critically important that you let us know as soon as possible, as any change in student enrolments can have an impact on the planned class structure and the formation of classes.
World Teachers’ Day
World Teachers' Day will be celebrated in Victoria on Friday 30th October 2026. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) established World Teachers’ Day in 1994 to recognise the role of teachers in society. The theme for this year’s celebration is: Shine a light on teachers.
This day is an opportunity for staff, students and the wider school community to recognise and acknowledge the work that teachers do. Please reach out to your child’s teacher/s to acknowledge them on this day.
Parent forum
This term, we are working with educational consultants in preparing for our 4-year strategic review which is scheduled for Term 1 next year. As part of the review process, the school completes a pre-review self-evaluation (PRSE) where data and other evidence is reviewed to form a collective view of current practice and areas for improvement. This will include feedback from staff and parents through a number of forums. There will be a face-to-face parent forum as well as an online forum. The face-to-face forum will be on Thursday 12th November at 4pm.
