End of Year Sustainability Report
As we reach the end of another busy and exciting year, we want to say a huge thank you to our amazing students, families, and staff for their outstanding commitment to caring for our environment. Your efforts have made a real difference to our school and our planet.
Throughout the year, our community has worked hard to reduce waste, rethink habits, and recycle responsibly. Our Nude Food focus has helped cut down on single-use plastics in lunchboxes, with more of us choosing reusable containers and bringing rubbish-free lunches. This simple change has reduced the amount of plastic heading to landfill and helped us understand the impact of everyday choices.
Our compost program has grown stronger than ever by sorting food scraps into the right bins and helping create healthy compost that feeds our school gardens. We also continued to recycle paper, cardboard, stationery, and soft plastics, teaching us how small actions can help protect natural resources and reduce pollution.
These efforts have:
- Reduced the amount of waste going into landfill
- Helped lower our school’s environmental footprint
- Encouraged us to build lifelong sustainable habits
Supported our garden and outdoor learning spaces
We are so proud of the environmental leadership shown by our wastewise warriors this year.
Exciting Things Ahead!
Next year, we are looking forward to even more sustainability initiatives. We’ll be working on our waste-sorting systems, updating our garden spaces, and introducing new hands-on learning opportunities that help us understand how to care for Country and the environment. We are planning to join forces with Bittern Kindergarten to share our space and build strong community connections and goals. We also hope to involve families even more in our recycling and sustainability programs and inititaives.
Thank you once again to everyone for helping make Bittern Primary School a cleaner, greener place to learn and grow. We can’t wait to continue this journey together in the new year!
