Principal's Message

Welcome back to Term 3! 

I am thrilled to be part of such a beautiful community and inspiring learning environment, and I would like to sincerely thank everyone for the warm welcome I have received.

Our Closure Day was dedicated to planning for the term ahead. Together, staff analysed student data to identify where each child is in their learning, ensuring our literacy and numeracy programs meet students exactly where they are. By doing this, we can provide targeted teaching that supports every child to achieve the greatest possible growth.

We also revisited our vision and mapped the way forward for our learning community. You will already begin to see this vision come to life through initiatives such as the relaunch of our Kitchen to Garden program and some thoughtful changes to our learning environments and daily routines. Each morning will now begin with dedicated reading time, where every educator will spend one-on-one time reading with students. Research consistently shows that regular individual reading opportunities significantly strengthen children's reading confidence, fluency and comprehension.

You will also notice a change to our communication as feedback through the School Advisory Council. Seesaw will become a platform that celebrates and reflects learning through examples of student work, learning stories and classroom experiences. Administrative information and general school notices will now be shared via email to ensure important messages are easy to find and access.

Our recent Day of Joy was a wonderful way to begin the term. Staff shared stories, reconnected with one another, enjoyed a meal together and spent time in prayer, strengthening the relationships that make our community so special.

We look forward to welcoming many families this week for Parent-Teacher Interviews, an important opportunity to celebrate your child's progress and discuss their learning goals. 

We also invite you to join us for our school assembly at 9:00 am on Monday. This new time is being trialled to see whether it better suits our families, and we would love to hear your feedback.

STAFFING UPDATE:

Anita, our Art Teacher 1 day a week, will not return,  as many of you know Anita is caring for her daughter and we keep Anita and her family in our thoughts and prayers and thank her for her time at St Mary’s. We are in the process of announcing a new Art teacher for the remainder of the Year and will keep you all posted.
