Early Years Musical
The Early Years Musical You Are Special (by Max Lucado) was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Prep to Year 2 students’ talents and to witness their love for music and performing.
The children delivered a delightful performance, while supported by our dedicated teachers and staff. It was wonderful to see such a large attendance of parents and grandparents, which was so encouraging for our young students.
The colourful costumes added another layer of fun to the production, and we extend our sincere thanks to Dance Power for their generous support in donating many of these. We also acknowledge our Music Director Matt Young for his assistance with sound and lighting, as well as our Maintenance team for their efforts in setting up the stage and seating. It was a wonderful opportunity to share a beautiful message relevant to all ages—that each of us are special in the eyes of God, uniquely made and loved, and we all can turn to Him at any time.
Semester 1 Drama Showcase
What a fantastic semester it has been in Drama at PVCC!
Our Year 7 students have been exploring narrative and storytelling while developing the confidence to perform in front of others. A major highlight was their recent circus performances, where students showcased clowning, character work, and face painting. Their creativity, courage, and willingness to step outside their comfort zones made these performances a joy to watch. Be sure to check out the photos below to see some of the fun we've been having in class!
Our Year 8 students have been immersed in the worlds of Melodrama and the traditional Japanese theatre style of Kabuki. Both styles challenged students to go beyond their comfort zones and think differently about performance and characterisation, but they embraced the challenge with enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, our Year 9/10 elective students have been pioneering a brand-new subject, Adapting for Film & TV. Students have analysed stage productions, explored how stories are adapted for screen, and investigated the techniques used in both mediums. They then stepped into industry-style experiences including mock auditions, self-tapes, and the creation of their own short films. Watching students write, perform, film, and edit their projects has been an exciting and rewarding journey.
We are incredibly proud of all our Drama students for their creativity, resilience, and willingness to take risks this semester. We can't wait to see what Semester Two brings!
