Defence Mentor

I hope everyone has had a good couple of weeks.
Another busy 2 weeks of defence club. We were all so busy crafting and & decorating cookies that I didn't take many photos! I will be sure to take some this week for you all to see.
The students have requested hot chips for this week, so I am sure it will be a busy club this week.
Evie, one of our Defence students competed in Yea last week, The Southern Ranges Cross Country. The weather was beautiful, and we were all very proud of you for getting this far.
I currently have 7 defence students that are dealing with a parent who is away from home, either deployed overseas, or away on a course. I have been meeting up with the younger defence students, working through the 'while you are away journal' to discuss how they are feeling so I can identify if they need support in any way. I have reached out to the older defence students to make sure they are coping well and also to let them know that I am here to support them if required.
Defence Member & Information Guide - FYI
Defence life can be exciting and challenging for families. The Defence Member and Family Information Guide is available to support families to navigate Defence life. It also contains lived experiences of other Defence families, sharing in their own words, stories about their Defence journey and tips they have learned along the way. The Guide covers an extensive variety of situations, including preparing for posting or deployment and is designed to support families throughout the Defence career-cycle.
