Earthcare Update

At St Joseph's we are trying to find new ways to minimise the impact of the waste that we as a school creates.
Part of being a sustainable school is to make sure we are making sustainable choices.
As a school we are always looking for products that are more environmentally friendly.
Moving into term 2 we ask that lunch boxes have minimal to no rubbish in them.
We understand at times soft plastics such as chips or biscuit wraps may find there way into lunch boxes. On these occasions the plastics will be sent home in lunch boxes to be disposed off.
This would be a great time to look for alternatives such as buying in bulk and putting into smaller lunch box containers, buying from a bulk/no plastics shop or baking your own snacks.
This week see if you can make one change in behaviour buying and cut down on plastic, the single use type or recyclable.
You can do it! Start small
You could ask for your bread in a paper bag.
You could decide to get loose potatoes instead of in a bag.
You could buy a big bag of chips instead of lots individual ones.
I would love to hear of any new habits you are taking on and what little wins you are having.
Please share with dtaylor@sjcribpoint.catholic.edu.au - I would love to share some of these great ideas with others.
Don't forget you could return it and earn for our school.
