This term, our students have had a continued focus on shared reading to support student engagement, communication, and literacy skills.

Shared reading provides opportunities for all students to actively participate in stories in ways that suit them—whether that’s through looking, pointing, vocalising, or using their AAC systems. Staff are continuing to model communication throughout reading sessions, helping students make choices, comment, and connect with texts.

Through repeated readings, visuals, and interactive experiences, we are building students’ confidence, understanding, and enjoyment of books while strengthening their communication skills.
