🌟 As we move into Week 8, it’s hard to believe how quickly Term 1 is flying by! Our students continue to demonstrate enthusiasm, resilience, and positive engagement in their learning, and we are very proud of their efforts.

📚 Teaching and Learning

Classrooms have been buzzing with purposeful learning as students work on their individual goal work and deepen their learning and participation across all subject areas. Teachers are using assessment information to guide next steps, to ensure that each student is supported to take the next steps in their learning.

This week I joined with Lauren and Justin our Curriculum leaders in meeting leaders from two local primary schools. We will be working in partnership in 2026 to share ideas and develop strategies to better meet the learning needs of all of our diverse learners.

We encourage families to continue supporting learning at home by reading regularly, using Maths in every day situations, and talking with your child about their school day.

đźš— Car Park Safety Reminder

Student safety is always our highest priority. We kindly ask all families to:

  • Please use the pedestrian crossing with your child. This is part of teaching our children and young people about safety in the community and it's important that parents and staff model these safe behaviours.
  • Use designated drop-off and pick-up zones
  • Be mindful of pedestrians, especially during busy times

A calm and patient approach helps keep everyone safe—thank you for your cooperation.

 🌏Harmony Week

Harmony Week is a national celebration in Australia that recognises and celebrates the country’s rich cultural diversity. It’s all about inclusiveness, respect, and belonging for everyone.

Harmony Week is held every year around March 21, which is also the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. At Croydon SDS, students have begun participating in Harmony Week activities and even though it is a shorter week, we will celebrate this next week across our classrooms.

The key message during Harmony Week is that  “Everyone belongs.”

Australia is one of the most multicultural countries in the world, with people from over 300 ancestries. Harmony Week encourages:

  • Respect for different cultures
  • Inclusion of all backgrounds
  • A sense of belonging in schools, workplaces, and communities

At Croydon SDS we are are proud of and value the richly diverse cultures and backgrounds of our students, families and staff. Please join with us to continue to create a school where everyone feels welcome and that they belong to our school community.
