Leadership

I would like to congratulate our School Captains and newly appointed House Captains, and to commend all of the students who presented themselves so beautifully in front of an audience. We still have the SRC process to finalise, and I look forward to seeing more students step forward in leadership roles.

I continue to see leadership in the small, everyday moments at Alvie with students teaching one another, celebrating success, helping younger children, and showing care and responsibility within our learning spaces. I am very proud of the way they are growing into kind and capable leaders who understand that leadership is about lifting others.

Learning

Our classroom has been full of purposeful learning and creativity. We are continuing our class novel War Horse, with students writing narratives inspired by Joey. They are impressing me with their developing writing skills, particularly their use of rich language such as onomatopoeia, appositives, and strong verbs.

In Mathematics, we are strengthening place value understanding and building automatic recall of times tables. Any additional practice at home is always appreciated.

In Integrated Studies, we have been exploring the Earth, its place in space, and how seasons affect living things in our local environment. This afternoon, we enjoyed a beautiful walk around the grounds to observe the signs of summer together.

Life in Grade 5–6 is busy, joyful, and filled with many moments of curiosity, laughter, and growth.
