F-2 Class

(Miss Moore)

Happy Week 5 everyone!

I can’t believe we are almost halfway through the term already - the time is flying! We have been very busy in our classroom.

In Literacy, we have been exploring the wonderful story Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. The students absolutely loved bringing the story to life using puppets, masks and story stones to help them retell the events in order. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they practise recalling characters, setting and key events. Students are now completing their own retell of the story, focusing on sequencing and including important details.

In Mathematics, our Grade One and Two students have been learning about place value through bundling icy pole sticks into groups of ten to make larger numbers. They have been forming and representing numbers all the way up into the hundreds, strengthening their understanding of tens and ones (and even hundreds!).

Our Foundation students have been working hard on recognising, counting and representing the numbers 1–3. They have been practising forming the numerals correctly, matching quantities to numbers, and using hands-on materials to build their understanding.

Have a wonderful week!

Congratulations to our Student of the Week!

20/2/26 - Bently, for excellent work in mathematics, particularly with recognising, writing and ordering three-digit numbers. Keep up the great work, Bently!

20/2/26 - Deni, working hard on increasing your sounds and applying these when writing new words. You have produced some excellent pieces of writing this term Deni, and should be exceptionally proud of yourself!
