Principal's message

Hello Alvie families,

The past two weeks have been full and productive as we’ve settled into the rhythm of the 2026 school year. Students are becoming confident with our routines and expectations, and classrooms are calm, purposeful and ready for learning. A consistent start to the year sets the tone for success.

A key focus across the school is strengthening literacy. We are using an explicit teaching approach in every classroom. This means teachers clearly explain new learning, model it step by step, and provide guided practice before students work independently. You may hear your child talking about learning intentions, worked examples and feedback.

Whiteboards are an important part of this process. They allow every student to respond, show their thinking and receive immediate feedback. This helps teachers quickly check understanding and adjust their teaching to support all learners. It also ensures every child is actively involved in the lesson.

Regular attendance is another important priority for us. Every day at school contributes to academic progress, confidence and connection. We encourage families to support strong attendance habits, as even small amounts of missed learning time can add up across the year.

Beyond the classroom, our students have been enjoying tennis at lunch times. It has been fantastic to see skill development, teamwork and positive sportsmanship on display.

We were also proud to announce our 2026 House Captains. Congratulations to all students who nominated themselves. It takes courage to step into leadership, and we look forward to seeing our House Captains build school spirit and model our values throughout the year.

Thank you for your continued support. My door is always open for a conversation.
