Relocation Thank You
Once again, a massive thank you for your flexibility with our relocation today down to Buninyong for the Extreme fire danger day. Whilst these days can be a little disruptive to our regular schedule, we are now well versed in the routines and are able to maintain a very product and settled day at Buninyong. It is also a great opportunity for our students to see some of their Buninyong friends, as well as visit the library.
Safety of our students and staff will always be our number one priority, and we thank everyone for your support.
Parent Volunteer Help
We would love some extra hands to assist with some of our structures and jobs across the week. With our new daily schedule this year, some tasks like collecting lunch orders have become a little more challenging to coordinate amongst our staff.
Below is a sign up sheet for anyone who may be able to help out across the week. If you are able to, please sign up your name to a time. All volunteers must hold a current Working with Children's Check and have provided a copy to school.
If you are unable to access the document or have any questions, please come and see Jarrod.
Thanks in advance!

Homework
We had an incredible return rate in both classes last week for homework. Let’s keep that momentum rolling this week, with both the homework tasks and home ready. Amazing job superstars!!!
SC1 Learning Snapshot
Welcome to our new students Ryker and Inara in SC1. Ryker in Prep and Inara in Grade 2. Thank you to all of our Scotsburn families for welcoming our new students. We look forward to seeing all the great things you will achieve this year and beyond.
In the past week, students have been building their skills across several exciting areas of learning. In Writing, they have been exploring narrative texts, using picture prompts. Building narrative structures of character, setting, problem and solution. We have also begun our book study of ‘Matilda’ by Roald Dahl. During this introduction we have been looking at settings and characters.
In Maths, students have been learning about data collection by gathering information, organising it into charts and graphs, and interpreting their results.
Thanks and have a great week.
Beth and Chelsea
SC2 Learning Snapshot
Well we certainly kicked straight into our regular routines last week, after a couple of weeks completing our Learning to Learn program. It is hard to believe we achieved so much in just one week!
In Reading, SC2 students have enjoyed beginning our text-level study on the novel War Horse. We have been using our skills of prediction and inferencing to dive deep into the text. We have also looked at how figurative language can help to develop characters in a story. We will be using these skills and knowledge in our writing in the next couple of weeks.
In Maths, we have been looking at multiples and factors, developing our multiplication and division skills along the way. We have certainly loved having a go at Times Tables Rockstars, which students are welcome to have a go at at home as well.
Have an amazing week everyone,
Jarrod and Kirsty
Family Groups
Family groups have started! As a way of incorporating our Celebrations and Festivals unit, our first week we cooked cupcakes. Cake is used for lots of celebrations: birthdays, weddings, christenings etc.
If you have a recipe that is meaningful to your family or represents a celebration, festival, or cultural tradition, we would be delighted for you to share it with us. Where possible, we hope to choose a recipe that we can cook together during our one-hour Family Group session.

Specialist News
Hello to all,
By way of introduction, I have been teaching Music at Buninyong for the last 21 years and during that time I’ve had the pleasure of teaching the Scotsburn kids on and off. It’s always been a bit of a treat to head up the hill to Scotsburn. In Semester 1 I’ll be teaching Music to SC2 while Mrs Morgan will have SC1 for Art and in our second semester we will swap.
This year I will also be teaching STEM to SC1 & SC2 and PE to SC1. I will be well supported by Ms Morris and Mr Smith at Buninyong so you can be assured that we’ll be having fun as well as learning lots.
I hope to see you around and look forward to a fantastic year out at Scotsburn.
Steven Skilbeck
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
