Principal's Report

Change to School Leadership for the Remainder of Term One
Narelle Sullivan will be on leave for the remainder of this term. Acting in Narelle’s Assistant Principal role will be Jarrod Rodgers. We know Jarrod will do an excellent job in this capacity.
If you require support from a wellbeing perspective, feel free to make contact with Jarrod, but as always, Will Georgiou, Nicole Phillips and I are happy to help as required. We expect Narelle will be back for the start of term 2.
School Council Elections
As of today, we are calling for nominations for parents to join School Council. Official notice of this is attached. We have four parent member vacancies (two-year terms) to fill.
If you would like to join School Council, just pop in and collect a nomination form which is available at the General Office and must be completed and returned by Tuesday, February 24th. If you are unable to make it into the office, please call and we can send a nomination form home.
If nominations exceed available positions, a ballot will be conducted from March 2nd to 9th. We will let parents know how they can participate if a ballot is required.
We ask you to please consider joining School Council and playing a part in shaping the direction taken by our school. The role is most satisfying as councillors get to see their ideas put into practice and have a positive impact on students, teachers and parents in our school community. Parent members are critical in providing School Council with a parent perspective.
No experience is required, just an interest in the education of your child/ren and other children attending our School. The commitment is not huge - just one meeting per month (4th Monday of each month). Meetings start at 7:00pm and usually finish between 8:30 and 9pm. If you would like more information, give me a call.
Note:
- From 2026, parents, carers and community members who would like to join the school council need a working with children (WWC) clearance to nominate.
- If you already hold an employee WWC clearance, you do not need to obtain a volunteer WWC clearance to nominate for school council.
PUPIL FREE DAY THURSDAY MARCH 19
Hopefully you saw the Compass message late last week informing you of a pupil free day on Thursday, March 19. Each year we use one of our allocated pupil free days for whole staff professional learning and we try to arrange this event early in the year to provide us with the best opportunity to apply what has been learnt. This year the day will be led by an external provider, and it took some time to lock in a date. Day care at Base 1270 will be available for those that need it on this day.
OPEN MORNINGS
Early each school year we hold two Open Mornings at both campuses. These give prospective families the opportunity to take a tour of the school and see what our school has to offer. A team of grade 6s (our Transition Team) are the tour guides on these days, which is a job they love.
This year our Open Mornings will be held on Thursday February 26 and Friday March 6 between 9am and 1pm. Please pass the message on to anyone you know that has a child starting school in 2027.
