All the international students from Grades 3 to 6 took part in the House Athletics Day at the Boxhill Athletics Club with their classes last Tuesday. They all had a great day participating in various field and track competitions.
Some of them, like William Bing from 5/6M, won seven ribbons: first place in both high jump and long jump, second place in discus, hurdles, and the 200m run, and third place in triple jump and shot put. Very well done!
This week, Grade 3/4 international students had fun walking around the oval in the warm sunshine, gathering memories of Donvale. Some collected dry wood, leaves, and flower pieces to make thank-you cards for their teachers, while others did so for their memory books. This activity should be very different from what they typically do at their schools in China, making it a unique experience here at Donvale.
Grade 3/4 international students were also introduced to Aboriginal dot art and learned about its significance. They all gave it a try by coloring printed patterns using dots. However, next week they will create their own piece of dot art using their imagination.
