Principal's message

Have a lovely holiday...

I would like to thank each and every student, parent and teacher on a wonderful 2023. It has indeed been a full and exciting year, with many milestones and achievements. I have appreciated all your very kind words and support over the last three terms as relieving principal and I look forward to continuing in the role in Term 1, 2024. It is truly very special here at Peakhurst Public School and our community is one that is kind, caring and accepting of all. It is a privilege to be part of it.

I wish all our families a restful and refreshing summer holiday. Merry Christmas to our families that celebrate it, and may 2024 being us all love, joy and peace.

Farewell and thank you Ms Lawson

Last Friday morning we acknowledged Ms Lawson's leadership here at Peakhurst PS over the last 5 years. Since Ms Lawson joined our school in 2018 the world has faced many challenges, the largest of course was in 2020 and 2021 when COVID-19 made a world-wide impact. Ms Lawson's calm, organised and thoughtful way she considered our students and their families during such ‘unprecedented times’ was humbling. She truly was a rock of stability for all of us as we ‘pivoted’ to learning from home. We will always be truly thankful for her compassion and understanding in a very unclear world at the time.

Ms Lawson's commitment to improving our physical space has seen some dramatic changes in the last 5 years. Almost every classroom in the school has been repainted, nearly all the roofs have been replaced, astro turf has been laid in both playgrounds and basketball court, the yarning circle and special education unit playground have been constructed, the kitchens have been completely renovated and murals painted... no small feat! Our school is a beautiful place to learn and work in - thank you!

We look forward to hearing about Ms Lawson's many adventures she has planned in 2024 and seeing lots more photos of her gorgeous grandson, Jai.

Staffing 2024

We will be saying farewell to some of our staff at the end of this week. Mrs Ashlee Gillam (School Learning Support Officer - Platinum class), Miss Melissa Crane (5/6DA),  Mrs Rebecca Marcuse (3/4B), and Mrs Renee Robertson (Gold)

Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and care for our students. You will be missed.

Some of our teachers will be taking leave for all of 2024. Mrs Russell (Term 1, 2024), Mrs Cathy Foster, Mrs Belinda Lord, Mrs Richelle Greenwood and Mrs Laura Power. We wish them all a wonderful year ahead and look forward to hearing stories of their adventures in 2024.

Future planning

If you intend on taking extended holidays during the summer break and will not be returning on Day 1, Term 1, 2024 you will need to complete an extended leave application by Week 10, Term 4, 2023. All students need to be accounted for at the beginning of the year and contribute to the overall student numbers on census day in the first few weeks. If you take holidays and for some reason they extend into the school year you must complete an absence note on the school eNews app.
