2023/24 BNPS SCHOOL COUNCIL A.G.M. – President’s Report
2023 at Ballarat North Primary School was another year of exciting new challenges, achievements and learning. The first two terms saw Mr Garner steering the ship as principal and the second half of the year, we had Mrs Aquilina as acting principal. From the school council board, we’d like to thank both Dave and Tegan for their hard work throughout the year. We all appreciate and acknowledge their shared enthusiasm & efforts to make Ballarat North Primary School one of the best schools around.
I would like to briefly outline some of our achievements & celebrations for 2023:
Key Events:
- 70th Birthday celebrations, with a special mention & thankyou to Emma Sharples who lead the way in making a fantastic event. Numerous other school council members, staff, as well as past & present students helped out to make this a memorable event for all.
- Celebration of the Arts, where the Ballarat North Primary School students were able to showcase the amazing talents to all of us. A special mention to Fiona Emery who spent countless hours, weeks and days to make this all happen.
- Retirement of our long-term cleaner, Bernie Peldys who was the cleaner at BNPS for 30 years. This made the new cleaner tender a very difficult job, due to Bernie’s high-quality cleaning, outstanding service and commitment to the school over this time.
Fundraising Events:
- Walkathon
- Chocolate Drive
- Bogan Bingo
- Referendum Sausage Sizzle
- Parma Night
- Various Raffles, Stalls and Mini Fairs
Over $23,000 was raised throughout the year, which was a fantastic result. A big thank to everyone who helped organise these events, attended them or contributed in some way.
School Improvements:
- New football & soccer goals on the oval
- New seating around the school
- New shade sails installed
- Staff car park resurfaced
- New signage around the school
- Gym floor sanded and repolished
- Granite sand walking track around the oval
In closing out the 2023 school council year, I would like to thank all the members of the Ballarat North Primary School team, school council staff, parents, students, volunteers and everyone else involved at the school for your commitment, time, efforts and support - it is always very much appreciated.
I look forward to continuing to work with BNPS staff and the school council in 2024.
