Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome back to our first edition of the newsletter for Term 2.

Swimming Program

Next week, on Tuesday and Thursday, marks the start of our whole school swimming program at the Swim and Survival Academy. This is an 8-week program about which you will have already received information and instructions to input information into the Swim and Survival Academy's system regarding your child's swimming competence and experience. This will allow the instructors to tailor their programs and instruction to ensure the students get the most out of this program. Please ensure you have completed this online form, and if you have any issues with the platform, please contact Swim and Survival directly, as they need this information before lessons start next week.

Football on the oval

Every year it seems inevitable that we have to highlight the dangers/risks of tackling in school playing football. The students are aware there is a clear "no tackling" rule at school, and this is reinforced by classroom teachers, yard duty teachers, myself and Mrs Carey at assemblies. By and large, most students are making the right choices in this space, however, we continue to have some students who like to push the boundaries and think they are running around on the MCG. We are now well past reminders and warnings, and any students found tackling on the oval will be asked to leave the oval, and take some time for reflection in the courtyard for the remainder of their break. This is a duty of care matter, and we cannot have students being hurt with head knocks and other injuries. Your support with this by having conversations at home would be appreciated.

School Review

I mentioned earlier in the year, that in Term 3 this year, we will be undertaking our "4-yearly" Whole School Review against the goals and targets of our current School Strategic Plan, and identify new goals and targets for the next four years. Staff have begun pre-evaluation work, but as a part of this process, I would like to gather some voice from you, our parents/carers. Over the coming week, I will be publishing a survey with some key questions/elements that I would value input into to capture our parent voice in specific areas. When you see this pop up on Compass, please take 5 minutes or so to give this some thought and complete the survey. I greatly value your input into this process.

In the school council section of the newsletter you will see a President's Report as delivered by our School Council President, Scott at our AGM in March. Well worth reading!

In closing, I hope you were able to commemorate the significance of ANZAC Day in some way yesterday. We will be doing so in our assembly today with the students also.

Until I next see you in person, take care
