Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Families,
It is so hard to believe that we are almost at the mid-point of a short Term 3! It has been a fantastic start to the term, with much to celebrate already, and so much more to come. Whilst the schools still remains a bit of a worksite as our ramp works drag on and on, last week a number of our students were took part in some amazing experiences. Firstly, our First Nations students attended the Children and Youth Close the Gap Day at Federation University. Over 200 children and teenagers from across the region took part in a wide range of activities, connecting to country and our students had an absolute ball! They even came back with their own customised jumpers.
The second event from last week that I’d like to share was the Division Basketball Competition. We sent twenty-three Year 5/6 students with Mr Haire to compete across two boys and one girls team. All three teams played extremely well and represented our school with such pride. I’m very pleased to share that our Boys 1 team won the Grand Final in their division! An amazing achievement.
We are getting very excited, and are ramping up planning, for the Celebration of the Arts on Thursday September 11th. This year, the event will run from 3:15-5:45, and we will leave the displays up for Friday 12th September between 8:30 and 10:00AM if any parents/carers can’t make it on the Thursday afternoon. Please note that school finishes at 3PM on the Thursday to allow for this fabulous event. We’ve got art works to show, buskers to perform and food trucks to keep you well fed, and that’s just a start. We hope ALL our families can come along and be a part of this amazing community celebration!
I’d like to put a final call out for any 2026 enrolments, as we are now in the full throes of planning for the 2026 school year. If you – or someone you know – are yet to enrol for 2026, now is the time! Please contact Katrina in the office ASAP for an enrolment form.
Lastly, you will have hopefully seen the Compass post regarding the annual Parent Opinion Survey which opens next week. This will provide the school with some important feedback on a number of key areas and allow us to use this information for future planning. When the survey opens on Monday 18th August, please take the time to click on the link and provide and complete the survey in a considered way. We greatly value this information and want to keep making our school the greatest it can be!
Until I see you in person,
David Garner
