From the Chaplain

From the Chaplain

It has been a real privilege to take up the Chaplaincy role at Southern Christian College this year. While I have only been in the role for six months so far, I have made some wonderful connections with students, from Prep all the way up to Year 12. It has been a joy getting to know such wonderful young people, and seeing how much they have grown and developed in such a short amount of time. I have enjoyed the input I have been able to have in our Primary Social Learning program, and of course going to Sydney with the Year 11/12 students was a huge highlight of my year!

But Toastie Thursdays has been where the real action is. It seems like there are more students every week, and we very quickly upgraded to four toastie machines instead of just two! We are seeing a real sense of community beginning to grow among our high school students through this weekly event, and it has been wonderful to see “The Toastie Room” become a place where students gather and spend time with each other. A huge thank you to Sophie Rowe, one of our wonderful school leaders, for all her help with Toastie Thursdays, she has been an invaluable support.

Next year will be another big year in Chaplaincy, with new programs planned and opportunities to pursue. I have felt very supported and encouraged by staff and students alike as I have started out in this role, and I look forward to further developing in my capacity as chaplain as I continue in this role through 2025.

Thank you for a wonderful year, and I pray your Christmas is full of peace and joy, and that your holidays are restorative!
