Principal's Report 

Dear Parents and Carers,

I absolutely love the Book Week parade. It has to be one of my favourite days in the school calendar. All the smiling faces, the dress-ups, the silliness and the laughter - and that's just the staff! 

To see so many children and their fathers or fatherly figures dress up for today's book week parade was a sight to see. Thank you as parents for making the effort to celebrate reading, to celebrate books, and to celebrate the link between home reading and school. Well done to all who participated.

Last Monday, 35 students from Mackellar participated in the District Athletics Carnival representing our school against schools in our local area. There were certainly some stand out performances which Miss Emily will detail.  I wanted to pass on my congratulations to all who participated and gave it their all. Well done for making the team, and for representing our school and yourselves so well. 

From Wednesday to Friday of last week, Kylie Kennedy, Joanne Wood and I attended the Victorian Principals' Association Conference in Geelong. The conference is a great way for principals and aspiring principals to network, learn, share and discuss the many challenges facing principals in Victorian government schools, and also to celebrate what is a very special and rewarding job. Thank you to the school leaders who assisted in our short absence. 

As we head towards term four, please take this time to dig out your child's school hat ready for the warmer months. School hats are compulsory in terms 1 and 4 each year, so rather than wait until that time is upon us, please take the time now to find the old one, or purchase a new one from our uniform supplier. 

Finally, a reminder that the last day of term is Friday September 18. School will finish at 2:30pm on that day, with TheirCare available from them.
