From the Principal's Desk

Can you believe it is Week 4 already? Our students and teachers have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes getting ready for our upcoming school musical, Spring Chicken. The excitement is certainly building, and we cannot wait to showcase their wonderful performances for you in Week 8.

Looking ahead, we will be hosting our school Book Fair in Week 6. This is always a highly anticipated event for the students and a fantastic opportunity to encourage a lifelong love of reading while supporting our school. Keep an eye out for more specific details as we get closer to the date! We will have the book parade on Thursday 27th of August where students will have the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book characters.

We are also thrilled to be participating in the Todd Woodbridge Cup. It has been fantastic to see our students out on the courts, developing their fundamental tennis skills, staying active, and most importantly, having a great time together. Well done to our Stage 2 team, which participated last Friday and good luck to our Stage 3 teams today.

A quick reminder that our Kindergarten Information Night for the 2027 intake will be held next week on Thursday, the 19th of August. If you know of any family or friends who are considering All Saints' Primary School for their child's education, please encourage them to come along.

Soon, some families received attendance notifications. I would like to clarify that attendance rates for students at school, as defined by CEDWW, are in the table below. For any students whose attendance was below 90% with exceptions, a letter was sent out.

As always, attendance data is considered alongside individual circumstances. We understand that illness, family commitments and other genuine reasons can impact attendance. Our goal is not simply to monitor numbers but to ensure that students attend regularly enough to fully engage in their learning and achieve their potential.

It is also important for families to understand that, as Principal, I have a legal responsibility to monitor and address ongoing attendance concerns. Where attendance does not improve and there is no satisfactory explanation for continued absences, the next step is to meet with parents or carers to develop an Attendance Improvement Plan. This plan is designed to identify barriers to attendance and establish strategies to support regular school attendance.

If attendance concerns persist and the agreed plan is not implemented or followed, I am required to report to the Department of Education and the Department of Communities and Justice. My preference is always to work collaboratively with families to address concerns early and ensure that every student has the best opportunity to succeed through regular attendance at school.
