Campus Principal

We are seeing the school settle in really well into Term 2 despite a lot going on around the students.

Unfortunately, at the end of Term 2, Kaitlin Everitt resigned from her position as an English and Humanities teacher to pursue a new career direction.  Though our strong staffing has ensured classes did not experience disruption, our staff have been working harder to backfill gaps, and we have therefore been seeking an appropriate replacement for Kaitlin to relieve some of the pressure.  We are thrilled to welcome Annika Bassing to our Team starting from 1st June.  Annika will teach PE, Maths and Humanities and comes highly recommended.  This will cause a little bit of movement with teachers and classes, but we will ensure that it is done with the least possible disruption for students.

There is also some movement in our campus leadership team over the coming weeks.  Nicole Taylor, a Learning Specialist, has been undertaking a Principal Internship at another school and will return to Morwell Campus soon to take on the role of Acting Assistant Principal.  I will be on medical leave from 22nd May to 5th June, and Erin Gruis will be Acting Campus Principal during this time. Nicole will continue as Acting Assistant Principal until early Term 3.

This week, we undertook our Attitudes to School Survey.  Student voice is incredibly important to us, and the Attitudes to School Survey is a Department of Education mandated survey that enables us to canvas student opinion on a variety of important topics and compare our student perception against other schools across the state.  Traditionally, this is an area we are proud to perform incredibly well in, and we always prioritise responding to areas where our students indicate that we could do better.  

I want to recognise and congratulate our Student Leaders who attended the ANZAC Day march and service on behalf of the school.  This is an important community event, and we appreciate them giving up time on a public holiday to represent our school.
