The Little Long Walk

Truganina P-9 College and The Long Walk program
The Long Walk, Inspired by Michael Long’s historic 650km Walk to Canberra in 2004, are dedicated to keeping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and futures on the national agenda. Through their educational programs in schools, they empower First Nations children with knowledge, culture, and opportunity, fostering pride and leadership for generations to come. The Long Walk Program have been working with our First Nations students at Truganina College this semester and have helped plan a whole school event to raise awareness of what Michael Long has achieved.
As a College, we will be hosting our own ‘Little Long Walk’ during Reconciliation Week, on Thursday May 28th, to bring not just aboriginal culture, but all cultures, together.
Students and staff will walk together to show support for reconciliation, celebrate Indigenous culture and reflect on the importance of walking alongside one another as a community.
To be apart of this event, we ask that students wear footy/sporting colours and to do so they will need to donate a gold coin on the day. All donations go to the long walk foundation. For further donations here is a link. https://thelongwalk.com.au/.
(Reminder: This is not a casual clothing day. Footy colours or school uniform)
