WynSpeak 2026

Outstanding Success for Our Year 7 Students

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Year 7 students at the first round of the WynSpeak 2026 Public Speaking Competition, held at Westbourne Grammar School on the 30th of April. The event featured 16 participants from eight schools, including Bacchus Marsh Grammar, Westbourne Grammar School, Point Cook P-9 College, Grange P-12 College and Homestead Senior Secondary College.

Year 7 student Adl Nawaz delivered a powerful and beautifully prepared speech exploring the theme of guilt and the different ways it can affect individuals. His confident and engaging delivery impressed both the judges and audience members. Adl was the only junior participant to receive a special mention from the chairperson at the conclusion of the evening for his exceptional speech performance.

Our other Year 7 student Mannat captivated the audience with her thought-provoking speech on how technology can sometimes do more harm than good. Mannat achieved an incredible result by winning both competition rounds - the prepared four-minute speech and the impromptu 90-second speech, where students are given a topic on the spot and only four minutes to prepare.

Both students demonstrated remarkable dedication and responsibility by attending regular practice sessions during recess throughout the term with Secondary English teacher Mrs Sunilla Naik and Secondary Humanities teacher Mr Jack Matthews. Our students' confidence, fluency, preparation and courage were truly commendable and reflected the hard work they invested into developing their public speaking skills.

We feel proud to celebrate another successful year at WynSpeak and are incredibly proud to have a competition winner from our College for the second consecutive year. We congratulate Mannat and Adl on their outstanding achievements and thank Mrs. Sunilla Naik for her dedication, mentorship and continued support of our students, including accompanying and encouraging them on the night of the competition. Her commitment in supporting students beyond the classroom is greatly appreciated.
