Year 1/2 Maali Class

In the Maali Class, we have been learning about our local area and how to look after places as part of our HASS curriculum. We used the story of The Lorax to bring learning to life and understand the impact we have on the world around us. We linked this to how the Noongar Whadjuk people and other indigenous Australians have always cared for land and how we should continue to do so. We also reflected on the sustainability practices we take part in at school. We also learnt some Auslan to go with our song 'What A Wonderful World' and enjoyed watching Louis Armstrong sing the original track. The Lorax really helped to combine lots of different subjects like, science, HASS, English, music and art to make meaningful connections.
