Swimming Carnival

Lightning Writing Prompt: On the Wednesday 21st  of February, we had the Macleod College Swimming Carnival. It was a great day because..

It was a great day because I saw many beautiful and happy students. My House Colour is green, so is  Max and Lin. I was playing Uno under the tree and eating chips with my good friends. We ate a lot of junk food such as ice cream, chips, coco and so on. I brought water. I’m very tired, because the weather is hot. I can't swim. So I stayed under the trees. I was proud of Surath, because he joined the swimming races alone. (Brian Lin)

It was a great day because, on this day I went down the slide 3 times. At first, I got hurt. I was unlucky. I also played Uno. I got some food such as, solo, chips and ice cream. It was very great. We could only stay at the pool for one day. (Rolfe Ma)

It was a great day because I saw many students I have never talked to, dressed up in their unique style. Under the school uniform; they have a special side of their identity. I was surprised about that. Also I received lots of praise from teachers and friends, many people here love my piercing and outfit! I love you guys! (Sonnet Jiang)

It was a great day because I wore yellow on that day and I played Uno with my classmates and we shared food with each other. And because the weather is hot, I bought ice-cream. And I also bought chips. They are delicious. So although I haven’t swam or gone down the water slide, I still had fun. (Qinglin Yang)

It was a great day because I had a lot of fun. I saw a lot of students wearing their funny clothes like bananas, butterflies, and pirates. Me and my friends sat near the trees and played Uno, shared food together and talked with each other. I also met some new friends and watched the competition. It’s really fun and I love it. It was a great day because I played with my friends. We have four colours; yellow, green, blue and red. Some people dressed up in interesting ways, they dressed like teletubbies, bananas. I like them. We bought delicious food to share, we sat on the grass and played some interesting games, including UNO. I think we like to have a picnic. Everything is all good, but…that day is so hot. We could only  sit under the tree, so we did not feel so hot. Some people are swimming in the swimming pool and they are happy. Overall we had a great day. (Sophie Zhang)

It was a great day because I saw Macleod College students & teachers in different colours. I swam in a few events and brought some points to my Ramsey house. I saw some children wearing different costumes like banana and pirates . I participate in teacher’s & students relay . Also I went in water slide . The weather on this day was amazing. We had lots of fun. I enjoyed the swimming carnival a lot .  (Surath Fernando) 

It was a great day because we shared so many snacks. We bought ice cream together. I ate 3 ice creams in just 10 minutes and I had a short nap because of the hot weather. Because I'm quite shy, I just sat and watched my friends swim. The weather was really hot, we played Uno and laughed a lot. My red house has different beautiful clothes. Watching my friend Surath in my team play on the water slide is very entertaining. We discussed many topics that day. (Thy Ngoc Ta)

It was a great day because my good friends and I played Uno cards and shared food on the grass. The Uno game was fun and the food was very yummy. I saw Macleod College students wearing clothes representing their Houses. I even saw banana costume. I thought it was very funny. I also saw Ms. Ketty doing  a train dance with other students. It's really funny! Many students participated in the swimming races. I thought they were very good. I also learned sportsmanship and competitive spirit from them. It was a great day because I saw a lot of students at Macleod College. I saw them come play with the teachers. I played games with my classmates. We play Uno and talked with each other.   Kryal Castle

Lightning Writing Prompt: On Thursday the 14th of March we went to Kryal Castle. It was a fun day because…. 

We played a battle game. We were fighting with swords and shields. He is very challenging. I saw a siege attack with a battering ram. We also did archery. We used a bow and an arrow to reach the target. We did all this in the castle.  (Brian Lin)

It was a fun day because, in Kryal castle I  played battle. I used double sword to fight the knight. I lost but. I also played archery, I only got the target once, but I’m very strong,  I also, saw a girl get dressed up as a knight. I can see the armour is so heavy.  (Rolfe Ma)

It was fun because our class and year 8 students were all together. It took 2 hours to arrive. The castle looked old but it was not so old, it  was built 50 years ago. We came into the torture and punishment exhibition It was a  horrible room with many fake bloody bodies. The maze was kind of like an escape room. I tried to find a way out. It was not too difficult. Later we met a knight. We battle in two teams with shields and swords. I hoped I could be the winner of the fighting but I wasn’t. (Sonnet Jiang)

It was a fun day because we will flight with swords and shields. There were two teams, the red and blue team do battle. Next we have a bow and arrow for archery with a target. Finally we see handsome and knight wearing handsome armour. A student was even dressed as a knight.  This day was really happy.  (Yaron Yang)

It was a fun day because I met new friends in my group, they are so talented and funny. We have a small battle and it’s really fun. After that we tried archery. I  had to shoot at the target. I  couldn’t but my friends were so good at this. Then I saw a dungeon and it had lots of punishment there, it’s so terrible and scary. It was a long day but also it was really fun too. I hope one day I can return this place. (Helene Nguyen)

It was a fun day because there are sword battles,  bow and arrows. It was amazing to do the sword battle. One time I was the leader in our team. Our team colour was red. We won 2 times. Bue team only won 1 time. So we won the battle. In archery I got the bullseye 2 times. It was amazing. The punishment in medieval period was so awful. I don’t like thinking about those punishments. (Surath Fernado)

It was a fun day because we did many interesting things like a battle. It was so funny using the sword and shield. The siege attack is dangerous. I feel so happy. (Max Yu)

It was a funny day, because this is the first time I visited this place. I saw armour, and they say this armour can be up to 50kg. I walked around and listened to the executioner. I saw various types of torture and horror stories. There were even horror sounds in the exhibition. I experienced the maze, it was quite easy.. I had a battle with my friends, with sword and shield. And I also experienced archery even though  it was very difficult. It was my favourite activity that day. (Thy Ta)

It was a fun day because we took part in many activities and learned a lot. For example archery and holding swords with my classmates. When we shoot archery, we need to draw the bow and aim the arrow at the target. My favourite activity is battling using an sword and shield with classmates. I felt very happy. I think Kryal Castle is very unique and old, it‘s so beautiful. We also saw a knight putting armour on an eighth grade girl from Macleod College. I thought the armour was very cool. It’s a beautiful day.（Yujing  Yang）

It was a fun day because around the castle, there is moat, There is  a lot of water around the castle. In the water, I saw the branches on the water. And I even saw a  crocodile. Then went in to the castle, we tried to do archery using a bow and arrow. Then  we saw a knight.  We use the sword and shield to fight with each other. I could not stop laughing. It was a happy day. Athletics Carnival

Lightning Writing Prompt: On the Wednesday 20th of March, we had the Macleod College Athletics Carnival. It was a great day because..

It was a great day because there are many kinds of activities. You can join the high jump, shot put and long jump. I went to join the 200 meter and relay. In the relay my team got first place. We got a  blue ribbon. We talked to each other and ate together. (Brian Lin)

It was a great day because, I ran the 100 meter and 200 meter race. I was so tired, but I had fun. I saw the track,  it was good. My team also ran the relay. I also got food, like chips and ice-cream. Not bad at all. I also saw shot put, high jump and long jump. (Rolfe Ma)

It was a great day because we played Uno card whole day. The day was freezing cold so I didn’t want to race. I reflected on the education in China. I judged the terrible and horrible education in my country. When I was there, I would spend 15 hours a day on studying, when I was only year 7. Many of my friends mental health suffered. It’s a pretty bad memory for me, but now I’m feeling better. I love Macleod! I love Australia! (Sonnet Jiang)

It was a great day because I had a lot of fun. I play UNO with my classmates. That day was very cold and windy. During our playing, the wind blew our cards away several times. But it’s still fun. I bought chips and drinks, they all taste good. We share our food with each other.  (Qinglin Yang)

It was a great day because I will run the 200 meters and relay races. Then I will have two places, one is third and next one is first. I think it was fun. (Yaron Yang)

It was a great day because I didn’t have class and homework on that day. I played Uno with my friends, ate chips, talked about the sports and watched everyone do the race, high jump, long jump. There are a lot of sports to play. We had a fun day and I love it. I hope Macleod College will have more activities. (Helena Nguyen)

It was a great day because we played UNO all day, and we sat on the ground. And there are some things we can do, like high jump, long jump, relay, shot put, track and running. We have fun. And my classmates got great rankings. The first place  got blue ribbon, the second place got red ribbon, the third place got green ribbon. The happiest thing is we don’t need to do some homeworks! Everything was perfect, but the day is so cold, but we still had a great day! (Sophie Zhang)

It was a great day because we didn’t have class, it was a day just for fun. I got 1st place in relay, 2nd place in 100m & 3rd place in 200m. Also Lin got those all 3 1st. The girls  just play Uno whole the time. They didn’t participate in any activities but I think they still had fun. I made some new friends there names are Rosco, David and Josh and Jack. (Surath Fernando)

It was a great day because I did 200 meters and took a red ribbon. I want to try high jump but it is very cold so  I just eat same food. (Max Yu)

It was a great day because I have no test and no homework. I play Uno with my friends. We laugh and talk a lot. Although the weather is cold, I am still eating ice cream. I was really relaxed for the whole  day. (Thy Ta) 

It was a great day because we go to long jump and high jump and have five boys go to the track running race and relay. We all play Uno  and ate  junk food. (Yi Wang)

It was a great day because I saw many Macleod College students wearing strange clothes. They are very fun. My classmates participated in the 100 - meter and 200 - meter running races. They won a lot of first place. I think they are great and I am proud of them. My friends and I played Uno and truth or dare  all day. It was fun. I had a very interesting day. (Yujing Yang)

It was a great day because I have three blue ribbons. I took part in the competition of 100 meter, 200 meter and relay. My friend and I ran the relay  together. We were exciting.Then we laughed and talked about the match. It was such a fun day. (Lin Lin)
