Assault Police

We were pleased to welcome Wendy Shields, a respected police officer from the Mill Park Police Station to Plenty River College for an informative presentation on assault.

During her visit, Wendy provided valuable insights into the various forms of assault, outlining their legal definitions, consequences, and penalties. She also highlighted the potential impact of such offenses on an individual’s employability and ability to travel.

In addition, Wendy discussed the role of an active bystander when witnessing inappropriate behavior or criminal activity. She emphasized the importance of personal safety while taking action in such situations.

Recognizing the significant role social media plays in the lives of young people, Wendy also addressed the issue of online misconduct. She informed our students that bullying, stalking, and harassment can occur in digital spaces and should be taken just as seriously as in-person offenses.

Throughout the presentation, Wendy encouraged students to ask questions about the role of the police, fostering open discussion and engagement. It was wonderful to see many students actively participating, helping to break down barriers and challenge negative stereotypes.
