Safety Reminder

 

Dear Parents and Families,

We are writing to remind families of the school’s student supervision hours. Recently, we have noticed an increase in the number of students arriving at school and remaining on site outside of these designated hours, when staff supervision is not available.

For the safety and wellbeing of all students, supervision is provided from 8:45 am until 3:35 pm each school day only. Students should not be dropped off before 8:45 am and must be collected promptly at the end of the school day, unless they are attending a supervised school program (OSHC) or previously arranged activity (Kelly Sports).

We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that children arrive and depart within these times, as the school is unable to supervise students outside of our operational hours.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe school environment for all students.

2027 Foundation Enrolments are now open

Miners Rest Primary School is excited to announce that 2027 Foundation (Prep) enrolments are now open to the community.

We welcome families who are considering Miners Rest Primary School for their child’s first year of school.

2027 Year 7 Placements Applications now open

 

Dear Parents and Families,

As your child prepares to transition from primary school to secondary school in 2027, the Victorian Department of Education has outlined a statewide Year 6–7 placement process for all government secondary schools.

What you need to know and do:

  • Find your local secondary school

    Every child is guaranteed a place at their local (designated neighbourhood) government school. You can check your local school and nearby options at www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au (school zones for 2027 are available from 2 April 2026).

  • Submit your Year 7 Placement Application

    Applications open Monday 20 April 2026 and close Friday 8 May 2026.

    • You may list up to three government secondary school preferences.
    • All Year 6 students must submit an application, even if your child will attend a Catholic or independent school, or you intend to home‑school.
    • Families of government primary school students should return the application to their primary school.
    • Families from non‑government or home‑school settings should submit applications directly to their preferred government secondary school.
    • Some schools may use the VicStudents online system; your primary school will advise whether to use the paper or online form.

  • Placement offers

    Placement outcomes will be sent to families by Wednesday 24 June 2026. If your child receives an offer, you must accept or decline the place by Tuesday 11 August 2026.
