1/2 B is colouring SJV with creativity in Term 1!

The students of 1/2B have started the year with positivity and enthusiasm, working hard to be the best versions of themselves as they learn, grow, and support one another in our classroom community. Check out what we've been up to in Term 1.
Religious Education
We have been learning about God's Family. Just as we belong to our families and friendship groups, God invites us to belong to His family. Through Jesus, God shows His love, and when we believe in Him, we become part of God’s family. We created trees for God's Family. We included ways we can connect with God such as prayer, worship, reading the Bible and singing. We also included ways that we can treat others as family such as showing love, kindness, forgiveness, sharing, helping and listening.
Literacy
In Literacy this term, we have been learning about healthy eating and living. We explored the different food groups, the importance of sleep, and how washing our hands helps stop the spread of germs. We also became scientists and did a fun experiment to see how soap can kill germs. 🧪🫧You can try this one at home too!
You will need: Pepper (which acts as the germs), bowl of water (which acts as surface of our skin on our hands) and liquid detergent.
Step 1: Shake pepper on top of the water. Give it a good coat! These are the germs that are on the surface of our skin.
Step 2: Stick one fingertip directly into the bowl of water with pepper or “germs” on it. You'll see the germs stick all over your hand when you don't wash your hands!
Step 3: Rub a clean fingertip in soap. Make sure it is coated well.
Step 4: Stick the finger with the soap on it into the “germy” water and watch the germs spread out across the water! This is because the soap breaks down the virus!
Mathematics
In Mathematics this term we have been exploring the concept of place value and many different aspects such as making multiples of tens using tens frames, making two digit numbers using tens frames and partitioning numbers and number bonds as well as comparing and ordering two and three digit numbers.
I am very proud of all the learning and effort the students in 1/2B have shown this term! 🌟Looking forward to continuing our learning journey next term!
