Secondary School

Ethics Olympiad

This week six Year 9 students participated in the Middle School Ethics Olympiad and earned an Honourable mention from the Judges. This competition is held all over Australia, New Zealand, India, and Singapore and involves many schools. The W.A. day involved 30 schools. The students answer ethical questions as a team, building on each other’s responses.

The opposing team then asks questions with their responses included. These community of enquiry competitions help our students think logically and ethically about everyday actions. Some of the questions were: Is it ever okay to lie? Or Do you have a duty of care over someone even if you hurt them accidentally? And were presented as different scenarios to ponder.
