Catholic Identity

Creator God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, as we walk together on your path of love, hope and faith.

Thank you for the gifts of our school,

our environment, our families and friends.

May our school be a place of learning, care, welcome and celebration.

Mary our Mother, pray for us.

St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.

Amen

This term is a really busy term for the Catholic Identity of our school with many Masses, Liturgies and Sacred events taking place.

NAIDOC Week celebrations – Monday 4 August

We will hold our celebrations for NAIDOC Week. While, NAIDOC falls within the term holidays (6-13 July), we have scheduled our celebration for next Monday. Students will learn all about the week, culture and begin planning and building our ‘Yarning circle’ which will be between the fire pump shed and the maintenance shed.

              Dear God,

We thank You for the rich cultures, languages,

and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Help us to listen, learn, and walk together with respect and kindness.

May we celebrate the wisdom of Elders past and present,

and honour the deep connection to Country.

Guide us to build a future where everyone feels proud, safe, and included.

Let NAIDOC Week remind us to care for each other and the land we share.

Amen.

Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop Feast Day – 8 August

On Friday, August 8, we will celebrate the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first saint and a key figure in Catholic education and our school. The day will begin with a school Mass led by Fr Boniface at 12:30pm (all are invited to attend), followed by classroom activities where students will learn about Mary MacKillop’s life and explore our school’s charism through engaging learning experiences.

It’s a meaningful opportunity for our community to reflect on how we can live out Mary’s values of faith, courage, and service.

Staff spirituality day – 13 August – Pupil Free Day

On Wednesday 13 August, all staff will come together for our Staff Spirituality Day—a dedicated time for reflection, learning, and faith formation. Facilitated by CESL as well as locally at our school, the day will include workshops and guided reflections for staff designed to deepen our Catholic identity, strengthen our understanding of the Gospel, and nurture our personal and collective faith journeys. We are grateful for this opportunity to pause, reconnect, and grow as a faith-filled staff community.
