Lid Collection

Zero Plastics Australia is an eco-friendly company that specialises in recycling single-use plastic lids into brand new products. Educating the next generation about the impact of plastic waste on our planet and the importance of sustainability and a circular economy is super important to them, and Hamlyn Views School is so excited to partner with Zero Plastics Aus as we look towards a greener future.

On Friday 16th of May , Adam Slater from Zero Plastics Aus presented a Catalyst for Change incursion to senior students as part of our Business Enterprise program. Adam showed videos of their recycling process, and students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the importance of recycling and reducing plastic waste. Each student received a free bag tag to keep as a thank you.

As part of our new Senior Pathways Business Enterprise program, senior students are collecting difficult-to-recycle plastic lids to not only save them from landfill, but to turn them into entirely new products - watch this space! Our school community can help us by sending any plastic lids into class with your child, or you can drop them off at the office collection point.

We need plastic lids marked with #2 and #4 from:

- milk bottles

- UHT milk cartons

- juice bottles

- soft drink + water bottles

- yoghurt pouches

Thanks in advance from myself, Taryn, and the senior students!
