Nikolausabend German event on 4 December
Last Thursday afternoon 19 Oberon students as well as our German teachers attended the pre-Nikolaus activity at the German Club in Norlane along with a total of 52 students from several Geelong schools. Nikolaustag is on the 6 December – we were a little too early, however Sankt Nikolaus and his helper Knecht Ruprecht were there. All students received an Advent calendar from Nikolaus and some a small warning from Knecht Ruprecht!
Activities included craft such as window decorations, Christmas cards, small biscuit houses and badges. Lots of German sweets were available on the “bunte Teller”, plus delicious homemade cakes and sausages. German Christmas carols were sung and students learnt about how Christmas is celebrated in a German speaking country.
It was a wonderful event for all involved. Thanks to everyone who helped and participated.
