Principal's Report

It was great to have the 2026 year 7 students join us as part of the transition program for two days on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th December.  By all reports the students had a great time as they immersed themselves into the Oberon High School community. They were supported by the school transition team headed by Year 7/8 Sub School Manager Ms Priscilla Begg, Year 7 year level managers for 2026 Mrs Lindy Mathers and Mrs Michelle Nash, significant teachers and their buddies.  What has been particularly pleasing is the positive interactions that have occurred between students from the various primary schools.  Our teachers and support staff spoke highly of the initial interactions that they had with the incoming group and are excited to be working with the cohort in 2026.

The community at Oberon High School look forward to getting to know all of the 2026 year 7 students and will watch with interest as they develop academically, socially and emotionally through their time at the school.  I encourage parents to make contact with the school and the key contacts that are detailed below if there are any issues that need to be discussed or addressed.  As a school, I believe that we are very responsive to reasonable requests that will enhance the educational experience of students at the school.

Oberon High School has many strengths that has resulted in it being acknowledged as a high performing secondary school.   One of these is the many and varied opportunities that are offered to students throughout their time at the school. However, the experience that the students get will be reflected in their willingness to take up and be involved in the opportunities offered.  As is highlighted in the school mantra, I encourage all students to ‘shape your future … go one better’.

There are a number of key contacts at the school if you have anything you wish to discuss:

Mrs Bronwyn Knight  - Assistant Principal (Years 7)

Ms Priscilla Begg        - Year 7/8 Sub School Manager

Mrs Lindy Mathers     - Year 7 Manager

Mrs Michelle Nash     - Year 7 Manager

The 2026 school year for Year 7’s begins on Wednesday 28th January with staff returning to school on Tuesday 27th January.  The school office will be open for enquiries from Friday 23rd January.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and an enjoyable and safe summer break.
