Principal's Message

Dear Mother Teresa Community, 

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate Father's Day with us at our recent classroom visit and morning tea. It was fantastic to see so many dads, grandpas and special guests enjoying time with our students along with a cuppa and some delicious morning tea. It was wonderful to see our prayer space so full with so many of our children's male role models. Thank you for all you do! 

A huge thank you as well to our wonderful Parents and Friends committee for the wonderful job they did organising the morning tea and setting up our prayer space for Father's Day. At Mother Teresa we are so lucky to have such an active P&F - thank you all for being such an important part of our school.

MACSSIS - School Survey  

MACSSIS is one of the most powerful ways our families can influence school improvement through participation in the School Improvement Survey. An email was  sent to each family providing you with your family’s personal number (PIN) for completing the survey with further instructions as to how to access the survey site. Please note that the survey needs to be completed by Friday 18th September 2026. This survey may only be completed once. For families with more than one child attending our school, we ask that you focus on the eldest child attending the school when completing the survey. 

All families are invited to respond to this survey. There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers, all responses are  anonymous and at no point are any of the responses from students, families or staff identifiable by the school. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and as a school, we are looking forward to using this information to strategically plan for our school moving forward.

School House System

A huge thank you to our entire school community for your participation in our House System voting! We had 67 families vote along with our staff and students who voted on our Mother Teresa feast day. I am delighted to share that our community has officially selected the four Saints who will represent our new House System starting in 2027: St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, St Carlo Acutis, St Francis of Assisi and St Josephine Bakhita For more information on the house stems and why these 4 saints were selected please read on in the newsletter. 

A special thanks goes to our wonderful Grade 6 leaders for their exceptional leadership in presenting how these saints align with the values of Mother Teresa. A huge thank you also goes to Miss Sophie Mackinnon for guiding and leading this initiative. Early next term, each family will be placed into their new House group. We look forward to seeing our school spirit grow as we embrace these inspirational saints together!

2027 Enrolments 

I are thrilled to share that we have officially reached capacity for our incoming Foundation cohort, with 66 positions accepted, meaning Foundation enrolments for 2027 are now closed. Due to this high demand, we have established a waitlist for 2027. We also have a wait list for 2027 positions inGrade 2, Grade 4 and Grade 5 with a handful of positions in Grade 1, Grade 3 and Grade 6 for next year. 

If you know that your child/ren will not be returning to Mother Teresa in 2027, we would appreciate you letting the school office know as soon as possible, via info@motherteresa.catholic.edu.au. This information assists us greatly with our planning and allows us to offer places to families currently on our waiting list.

Reflection on Term 3 & Happy Holidays 

What a wonderful Term 3 we have had! Highlights included our students participating in energetic STOMP dance lessons, our wonderful Celebration of the Arts evening, and of course our Preps celebrating their 100 Days of School! This term, our Grade 6 students also affirmed their faith and made their Sacrament of Confirmation. Alongside these milestones, I am immensely proud of the work our entire school community has completed to refresh our vision and mission - please note that our final vision, mission, and motto are shared on the following page.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership throughout such a fantastic term of learning, growth, and faith at Mother Teresa. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude for your warm wishes and support as I travel to Greece and Turkey on a pilgrimage with fellow Principals, following in the Footsteps of St Paul. For more details regarding my pilgrimage, please refer to the recent Compass post. During my absence, Mr. Matt Galea will be Acting Principal and Mr. Heath Leighton will be Acting Deputy Principal, supported by our incredible school leadership team.

I hope everyone in our community enjoys a safe and restful school holiday break filled with warmer weather and a well-deserved slower pace. School returns for Term 4, on Monday 5th of October.
