A couple of weeks ago, our Grade 5/6 students went on an excursion to Melbourne, to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre. They were involved in two programs on the day, Expedition to the MARS Base, and The Size of Your Sol. Both programs provided the students with interactive hands-on learning experiences about Mars and our solar system. A super fun and engaging learning experience!

Scotsburn Assemblythis Friday 19th June

Our next Scotsburn assembly is this Friday June 19. This will be our final Scotsburn assembly for the term, with next Friday being a whole school assembly at Buninyong. We look forward to seeing you there!

SC1 Grade 1s and 2s Earth Ed Excursion

A reminder that our Grade 1 and 2 students will be heading off to Earth Ed at Mount Clear College next Tuesday 23rd June for a day of STEM activities. Students will explore VR technology, build electrical circuits and investigate basic robotics.

Students will need to bring their normal lunch and water bottle in their bag for the excursion. Scotsburn students will need to be dropped off and picked up at Buninyong Primary School for the day.

Grade 4 Anglesea Camp

Wow, what an experience our Grade 4s had at Anglesea last week! The weather turned out perfect for lots of adventures and fun. Our Scotsburn students were involved in a high rope climb, orienteering, damper making, mountain bike riding, as well as a big night walk and some free play. It was amazing to see them interact with all the Buninyong students and make some new connections. Mr Morgan even braved the high rope climb! What an adventure!!!

Last Thursday SC1 had their once per term visit from the Damascus St Brendans’ campus students. This literacy program involves Year 8 Damascus students preparing an activity matched to a picture story book, that they then ready and complete with a one-to-one SC1 student. This program has now been going for a few years, and continues to go from strength to strength.

The morning finished with a fun play in the yard. We can’t wait for their next visit already!

Last Friday Tash from the Royal Botanical Gardens Victoria returned for the next stage of our Raising Rarity project. This stage involved preparing our garden beds with wicking kits to assist with watering, correct mix of soil, and finally planting of the rare species, Leucochrysum albicans subspecies tricolor.

Between Scotsburn and the Buninyong STEM Scholarship group, our job now is to regularly monitor and care for the plants.

Parent Teacher Interviews, 3 Way Conversations and Semester 1 Reports

Semester 1 Reports will be made available this Friday, June 19th via Compass at 4pm. Students will also bring home with them on Friday their Student Report Comment, which always provides valuable insight to your child’s learning, from their perspective.

In addition to student reports, teachers will be available to discuss with you your child’s progress at our upcoming parent-teacher interviews scheduled for June 22 (4-6pm) and June 24 (1:30-5pm).

Bookings are currently open for parent-teacher interviews and will close this Friday, June 19th at 4pm

School Concert!

Gallery Image

Next term we have the whole school concert, which is super exciting! The theme for this year’s concert is ‘A Journey Through Worlds’. This week, Scotsburn will be confirming their act, which will involve some time for each class individually as well as a whole campus piece to finish.

The concert performances are held at Founders Hall (also known as the Caro Convention Centre) at Federation University.  There is a full day of rehearsal and then 3 performances (see dates below) in front of large crowds made up of parents, siblings and extended family members.

Early next term, we will be looking for some parent help for rehearsing and working on costumes, sets and props.  If this is something that you would be interested in helping with, please contact Jarrod or Liz.

A reminder that the concert dates are as follows:

  • August 26th- dress rehearsal
  • August 27th- matinee and evening performance
  • August 28th- evening performance

Swimming and Water Safety Program

Our 2026 swimming and water safety program commences late next term. Lessons take place at the Federation University pool by qualified instructors and run for 45 minutes over a 5-day period.

More detailed information will be sent home via Compass soon for parent/carer consent, along with payment details. The approximate cost of this year’s program is $66 per child.

In the meantime, please see the dates for Scotsburn classes below:

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
