Celebration Day!

What a delicious Celebration Day we had yesterday! Students across the school enjoyed baking cookies and sharing a tasty treat to celebrate the many behaviours we’ve seen this term that reflect our school values.

Congratulations to all of our students for earning this special celebration. We hope you enjoyed Cookie Day!

Did you know about the Emergency+ app?

Emergency+ is a free app developed by Australia’s emergency services and government and industry partners. It uses your phone’s GPS to help you provide your precise location to emergency services when calling Triple Zero (000) – particularly useful if you are somewhere unfamiliar or where a street address isn’t obvious.

The app can also provide your what3words location, giving you three simple words that can be relayed to the emergency operator to help pinpoint exactly where you are.

It’s a handy app for every family to have on their phone.

Ready to Learn – Arriving on Time

A reminder to families of the importance of having students at school and ready to learn on time each morning. This morning alone, 13 students arrived after the bell, with sleep-ins and slow-moving mornings among the reasons!

We certainly understand that winter mornings can make getting out of bed a little harder, but arriving on time helps students settle into the day alongside their classmates and ensures they don’t miss important learning and morning routines.

With the mornings starting to get lighter, hopefully getting up and moving will become a little easier too! Please help us by aiming to have students at school with plenty of time to be ready for the start of the school day.

Curriculum Day Tomorrow – Student-Free Day

A reminder that tomorrow, Friday 21 August, is a Curriculum Day and there will be no school for students.

Our teaching staff will be using the day to focus on Responsive Teaching and Data Literacy – looking closely at student learning data and how we can use it to maximise the growth of every student. Staff will work collaboratively to analyse whole-school and cohort data, identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement, and bring this back to the planning and teaching of the individual students in their classrooms.

Education Support staff will also undertake professional learning focused on supporting student learning, engagement and wellbeing.

We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday 24 August.
