Book Week

Book Week was a fantastic celebration of books, stories, characters, and imagination at Kurunjang Secondary College.

Book Week is an annual celebration of Australian children's books, authors, illustrators and the joy of reading. It began in Australia in 1945, when the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) established the event to encourage children and young people to discover and enjoy Australian books and stories. 80 years later, Book Week has become one of Australia's biggest celebrations of books and reading.

This year's theme, Symphony of Stories, celebrated how different stories, characters, ideas and voices could come together to create something amazing. 

Throughout the week, students got involved in a range of fun activities, including our Book Character Dress Up Day, with both students and staff dressing as their favourite book characters and taking part in Book Week photos at recess and lunchtime. 

Students also put their book knowledge to the test in the Book Week Kahoot Challenge, while our Quiz and Colouring Competitions provided even more opportunities to get involved. 

Our Short Story Writing Competition also received some fantastic entries, showcasing the creativity and imagination of our students. 

Congratulations to all students and staff who participated in activities throughout the week, and a super congratulations to winners of the character dress up and Book Week competitions - a list of winners will be posted on the library office noticeboard.

Well done to Mr Snape and Ms Magee, as well as the Learning Support team for winning the best office door displays.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Book Week celebrations and helped make Symphony of Stories such a memorable week. It was wonderful to see our school community celebrating the joy of books, book characters and reading.
