A Message from Ruth
Over the last few weeks, it’s been fun sitting with some classes as they challenge themselves to remember the names of all the students in our school. It’s made me think about my name and how I enjoy hearing the students greet me by my name. In fact, using someone’s name is a simple yet powerful way to make them feel valued and special. At Uraidla, we encourage everyone—students, staff, and families—to use names when greeting and speaking with others. Hearing our own name helps us feel noticed and respected. It builds friendships and a positive school culture where everyone belongs. We invite you to join us in celebrating the importance of names at home as well as at school.

Disco
The Uraidla Primary School disco will be held on Thursday, 3 September from 6-7:30pm, in the gym. The next day is a pupil free day!
Run by the Parents and Friends this is a great chance for kids to dance and have some fun with their school mates.
Tickets will be $7 and are available via edsmart (emailed out to all families) or from the office
On the night
Parents sign in their children at the gym entrance at 6pm, then collect them again at 7:30pm. For any children who need some time out from the disco, a quieter space will be provided. In case of emergency, staff attending will use current medical plans and/or medications at school for those children who have them.
Children should bring a drink bottle. A small bag of chips is provided as a snack (gluten free) for each child. Children can dress up or just come in comfortable clothing - whatever suits them! We will have UV lights so wearing white and fluro clothing makes kids stand out!
All children are supervised by parent volunteers with support from school staff. We ask parents to please not come in unless they are a volunteer.

Choir Rehearsal
Last Thursday, our choir students had the pleasure of participating in a session alongside the school’s performance cohort, in preparation for their upcoming Festival of Music performance at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The group worked with the music director to learn new warm-ups and explore a range of choral strategies. The session provided a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their musical skills, collaborate with peers, and experience the excitement of performing together.
It was wonderful to see students supporting each other and building their confidence in such a creative and positive environment.
Support Our Pedal Prix Team – Uraidla Primary School Wine Fundraiser and Community Cash Back Fundraiser Night.
Please support the Uraidla Pedal Prix team by coming and joining us for a meal at the Oakbank Hotel on Monday 12th October. $5 from every meal goes towards funding the team to purchase a new bike.

Paint donations please!
We are getting ready to add a new mural to the wall of the inside/outside learning space outside of the Year 2 and 2/3 classrooms, and we are looking for old cans of household paint. Do you have any old paint tins collecting dust in your shed? We'd love them! Any colour is fine. These can be left at the front office. Thank you! 🖼️🖌️🎨
2026 Parent Survey - Have your say
The annual Parent Survey is now underway and will close at midnight on Sunday 6 September.
The survey provides parents and carers with an opportunity to share their views and help improve education at our school. It focuses on:
- What we’re doing well
- Where we can improve
- What is important to you as a parent or carer
Your responses are confidential. Neither you nor your child can be identified, and only collated feedback is provided to our school.
You should have already received a link to the survey via email or SMS. Reminder messages are also being sent unless you have already completed the survey or chosen to unsubscribe.
We strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey. Your feedback is valuable and helps guide our school improvement efforts.

Around the oval the right way
A reminder that, in the interests of student safety, all traffic at drop off and pick up times, needs to enter from Swamp Rd and travel in an anti-clockwise direction around the oval. Please be aware of the speed limit of 10kph. And if using Kidney Street please enter from the Swamp Rd end and exit via Days Road.
Uraidla Primary Facebook Group
If you haven’t already heard about it, there is a Facebook group for UPS families, and we welcome everyone to join (parents/grandparents/carers all welcome). Look for “Uraidla Primary School Families” and answer the 3 simple questions on your connection to the school. This group is a friendly way to find the answers for those questions you may have (e.g. when your child tells you at the last minute its casual day tomorrow, and you can’t remember hearing about it from school!), to get reminders on events coming up, find your lost property!, or a way to connect with other families.
It is not run by the school but is supported by the UPS Governing Council, and parent admin (Jodi Braley) will post information regularly. It is designed to be a group with input from all – so contribute in any way you want to. If you do have a question that you don’t want to post yourself, feel free to forward to Jodi (either by Facebook message, email jodi.braley@hotmail.com, or in person at school), who is more than happy to help.
Enrolment in Reception
If you have a child turning 5 in the next 12 months, they should have already enrolled or registered their interest to start school. Children either start school at the start of the year or in July, depending on their age.
Please note that the kindy and school zones are not the same. Enrolment in the Uraidla and Hills Community Preschool does not automatically mean you will have access to enrolment at Uraidla Primary School. Please contact our front office for clarification.
Our school has now reached capacity, which means that we give priority enrolment to children in our catchment area. Please note that younger siblings of existing students are guaranteed enrolment.
If you are speaking to other families about enrolling in school, they can find their local school through the Find My School website: Find a school zone or preschool catchment area (education.sa.gov.au)
Enrolments for the start of 2027 are now overdue, and we hope to have enrolments for the mid-year 2027 intake finalised by February. Please contact the front office for a registration of interest form today!
