PAT Testing
It's that time again when students in years three to six participate in the Progressive Achievement Tests.
These include both a reading and a numeracy test. This is an online test that assesses students' reading comprehension skills (interpreting explicit information, interpreting by making inferences, reflecting on texts, retrieving directly stated information) and various mathematical strands (number, measurement, geometry, chance and data).
This test can be used for different reasons.
- A check in to see how our students are progressing and whether they are reaching the required standards for their year level.
- A progress check to see what their improvement has been from one year to the next.
- A check in for teachers to see areas the class is doing well and what areas need improvement.
- Individual data to see where there may be strengths and areas for growth.
One of the benefits of this test is that staff are able to access this information immediately making it easier to analyse.
Testing will begin in Week 7 and be completed by the end of week 10. Students in year 2 will have until Term 4 Week 3 to complete their tests.
If you are interested in how your child is going, please make a time to touch base with your child's teacher.
SAPSASA Basketball
Congratulations to the eight students who participated in SAPSASA Basketball carnival on Wednesday 26th August and St Francis De Sales. The students played a total of five games winning three against Aldgate, Crafers and Mount Barker South and losing to the eventual winners Hahndorf and Heathfield. A big thank you to Samuel Willsmore for coaching the team and Jenna Hill for transporting students on the day.
