Mary: A 'Model of Hope' \
Loving God,
We thank You for the stories of Mary, Joseph,
and Jesus, that remind us of Your hope.
When the angel visited Mary, she trusted Your plan —help us to say “yes” to You with courage.
When Mary visited Elizabeth,
they shared their joy —help us to share hope with others.
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem,
light shone in a humble stable —help us to find hope, even in simple places.
Mary, Mother of Jesus,
be with us when we are worried or afraid and guide us to your Son, who is our greatest hope and joy.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
St Roch’s Social Justice: Year 5/6 ‘Mini Vinnies Appeal - Thank you!
Thank you to all families who donated items to our Appeal! As we continue our 2025 theme ‘Guided by faith, inspired by hope’, we answer God’s call to help those in need, to ‘love your neighbour as you would love yourselves’. The support of our community has provided hope to many families in need. We are very proud to be part of the St Roch’s community, who continue to generously support all social justice initiatives. Thank you!
Below is a personal thank you from the President of the Malvern Emergency Food Program, Trish Woodman.
We wish to thank St Roch’s for the recent generous donation of food items to MEFP. Our appreciation is extended to the whole school community with special mention to the Mini Vinnies and the teachers who did the groundwork, and to our liaisons, Deputy Principal Louise Bolton and Deputy Principal Nadine Bolton.
When we visited St Roch’s to pick up the donation we were most impressed by the enthusiasm and efficiency with which the Mini Vinnies helped us move the food from the hall to our car boots. MEFP packs supermarket sized bags of the food items for the Malvern Police station where they can be accessed by anyone in need or can be used by the police in situations they identify.
Sincere thanks to St Roch’s Primary School for your ongoing support.
Regards,
Trish Woodman, MEFP Schools Coordinator
Whole School Rosary. Mary: our Mother of Hope
October is the month of Mary. Mary is the mother of Jesus and of us all. Her life and the choices she made are a model for us to live by. We join together as a school each Wednesday during October at 8.50am in the hall to pray the Rosary. During our Whole School Rosary, we will be exploring the Joyful Mysteries that help us to learn more about Mary. As we reflect on her life, we will be reminded of how Mary’s choices are an inspiration for us and how we can provide hope in our own lives.
Many classes will also focus their classroom learning on Mary through the Rosary and develop their understanding of Rosary Beads and how this helps us to create a meditative way to pray to Mary.
All families are very welcome to join us each Wednesday. Students are encouraged to bring Rosary beads from home if they have some, otherwise they will be provided at school.
