Year 10 Culinary Creations
Our Year 10 Food Technology students showcased their creativity, nutrition knowledge, and understanding of the functional properties of food this week by preparing Seared Chicken with Pumpkin Purée and Charred Greens. Each student developed their own variation, experimenting with plate styling, flavour infusion, and seasoning combinations. The results were not only visually stunning and full of flavour but also demonstrated a thoughtful approach to healthy eating and the science behind successful cooking.
Year 7 Food Technology
Our Year 7 Food Technology students had a fantastic time preparing Stir-Fry Pasta this week! They practiced safe cutting techniques and cooked confidently in the kitchen. Following the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, they created a balanced meal, and the results were so delicious that most students enjoyed every last bite — vegetables included!
Learning About the Effects of Alcohol
Our year 8 students participated in a hands-on lesson exploring the effects of alcohol on the body and mind. Using “fatal vision goggles” (also known as “beer goggles”), students experienced how alcohol can impair vision, balance, and judgment.
Through simple activities like walking a straight line or catching a ball, they saw firsthand how even basic tasks become challenging under the influence. The session highlighted the importance of making safe, responsible choices and resisting peer pressure when it comes to alcohol.
