NAPLAN: High scores, higher calling

The preliminary 2025 NAPLAN results are in, and we are delighted to share that every year level at Plenty Valley Christian College achieved Strong average results across all five assessed areas: Reading, Writing, Spelling, Numeracy, and Grammar and Punctuation. This is a significant affirmation of the learning taking place across our school.

We are particularly encouraged by the upward trends seen across the board. Year 3 showed markedly higher results in almost every area, and both Year 7 and Year 9 demonstrated strong growth, especially in Numeracy. These results reflect the steady and intentional work of our teachers, as well as the dedication and engagement of our students.

Our focus as a College has never been on boosting test scores for their own sake. Our goal is to see young people formed in Christ’s likeness, growing in wisdom and knowledge. Strong literacy and numeracy outcomes are one way we can support this broader vision of “daring students to be engaged, equipped, and empowered to transform communities, local and global”.

Behind these results are purposeful teaching strategies. In Primary, our focus on knowledge-rich curricula and the Science of Reading is giving students a strong foundation. In Secondary, we are investing in wide reading, deep thinking, and clear writing through the use of extended responses and meaningful texts. In Mathematics, our differentiated pathways are helping every student grow, regardless of their starting point.

As teachers continue to analyse the data to adapt their teaching practices to student needs, it is clear that the path we are on is energising and affirming. Thank you for your partnership as we seek to shape not only strong learners, but young people of character, courage, and faith.
