Italian

This week we highlight the senior students

Our Year Five and Six students have been working very hard in their Italian lessons using the Sentence Builder approach created by Gianfranco Conti.

Over Terms One and Two, students have learnt how to:

  • introduce themselves
  • say their age
  • describe how they feel and why
  • talk about brothers and sisters

Students are developing confidence speaking and writing in full sentences and are beginning to translate short paragraphs from Italian to English and English to Italian with some teacher support.

An example of the language students can now produce is:

Mi chiamo Luca e ho undici anni. Sto bene perché sono felice. Ho una sorella. Si chiama Maria e ha tredici anni.

(My name is Luca and I am eleven years old. I feel well because I am happy. I have a sister. Her name is Maria and she is thirteen years old.)

I am very proud of the effort and enthusiasm students are showing as they continue to build sentences in Italian this term.

Bravsissimi tutti!
