Learning and Teaching

Professional Learning at St Joseph’s
Last week, staff recently attended the Flourishing Learners Improvement Network, a professional learning opportunity focused on strategic school improvement and student achievement. The network supports schools to strengthen their implementation practices by aligning actions with our school’s Annual Action Plan (AAP) student learning goals. Through collaboration, reflection and evidence-based practices, staff explored strategies to enhance teaching and learning, ensuring that improvement initiatives remain targeted, consistent and responsive to student needs.
Professional development plays an important role in helping the staff at St Joseph’s continually improve teaching practice and student outcomes. Opportunities such as the Flourishing Learners Improvement Network allow staff to share ideas, build knowledge and learn from current research and best practice. By investing in ongoing learning, schools strengthen teacher capability, promote collaboration and ensure students benefit from engaging, high quality learning experiences across all areas of the curriculum.
At St Joseph’s, we believe that learning is lifelong and our staff are learners too. As part of our ongoing professional growth, staff recently participated in learning sprints, a focused cycle of professional learning designed to identify student needs, trial targeted teaching strategies and reflect on their impact. These collaborative learning opportunities allow teachers to use student data and evidence to personalise learning experiences and respond more effectively to the needs of all learners. By engaging in continuous professional development, staff strengthen their knowledge and practice, ensuring every student is supported to achieve success and flourish in their learning journey.
Kind regards
